Ancient China

We finished our unit on The Rise of Civilization with fascinating China! We learned all about the wall, the kites, the dynasties, the invasions, and the Mandate From Heaven. Most importantly, we learned that China is the oldest living civilization, with its origins possibly 7,000 years ago and living on today.

We watched this documentary:

Engineering an Empire: China

and learned that, 

had it not been for one power-crazed boat-burning emperor, 

we would all be Chinese today!

We also watched this very entertaining documentary:

Things Europe Never Invented: 

Ancient Chinese Inventions

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

and learned that the Chinese invented soccer, chess, and golf, 

among a bunch of other stuff that we erroneously attribute to Europe.
